About this document
Pigment and Carbohydrate Analysis in Selaginella by CherryAnnEspanto is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study investigated differences in pigment composition and carbohydrate content between the iridescent blue Selaginella willdenowii and the non-iridescent green Selaginella sp. Pigments were extracted and analyzed using thin-layer chromatography and spectrophotometry. Carbohydrates were also extracted and quantified. The pigment composition, chlorophyll concentration, and carbohydrate concentration were found to differ between the two species. S. willdenowii contained a red-orange pigment not found in S
