An advanced life prediction method for wind turbine blades subjected to creep and fatigue loading has been developed using micromechanics of failure and accelerated test methods. The micromechanics approach was extended to generate creep and fatigue master curves for composite materials from constituent properties. Finite element analysis is used to calculate load distributions in the blade, which along with the master curves allows predicting the life of a wind turbine blade with limited testing.
