What is Choosing The Best Operation For Chronic Subdural Hematoma - A Decision Analysis (Journal of Neurosurgery) about?
This study uses decision analysis to compare surgical treatment strategies for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), which is becoming more common as the population ages. The analysis found that burr-hole craniostomy has the highest utility at 0.9608 compared to twist-drill craniostomy at 0.9202 and craniotomy at 0.9169. Sensitivity analysis confirmed these results. Burr-hole craniostomy balances a low recurrence rate with fewer complications than craniotomy.
