What is Anatomy of the Biliary System about?

The biliary system consists of the gallbladder and biliary ducts. The gallbladder is a pear-shaped sac located on the inferior surface of the liver. It has a fundus, body, neck and cystic duct. The cystic duct joins the common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct, which courses through the free border of the lesser omentum and behind the pancreas before entering the duodenum. The biliary ducts transport bile from the liver to the small intestine to aid in fat digestion.
