The study aimed to determine the prevalence of Moraxella catarrhalis infections in the lower respiratory tract of elderly patients. Sputum samples from 716 patients were analyzed. Moraxella catarrhalis accounted for 6.9% of respiratory pathogens isolated, with most isolates obtained from males aged 61-70 years in the winter season. The most effective antibiotics identified were amoxicillin-clavulanate and ceftriaxone.
