British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor has created the Underwater Museum of Cannes off the coast of France to bring attention to the fragile marine ecosystems of the Mediterranean Sea. The museum features 6 massive 3D portraits of local residents ranging from fishermen to students, sectioned into outer mask-like portions. These statues lying in shallow waters among seagrass meadows aim to prevent boat anchoring while allowing marine life to thrive. By drawing more visitors underwater, Taylor hopes to foster
