This document summarizes a study that analyzed wood density and fiber length in 9-year-old Populus clones grown in a plantation. Disk samples were taken from trees at heights of 1.5m and 3.0m. The study found that pruning had no effect on wood properties. Wood density increased with age from 0.37 g/cm3 at age 3 to 0.45 g/cm3 at age 9 on average. Fiber length also increased with age from 0.57mm at age 1 to 1.0mm at age 9. Wood properties differed among clones but were similar between the two sampling heights
