About this document

Understanding Allelochemicals in Insects by ruby is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Allelochemicals are chemicals used for communication between organisms. They are classified into four categories: allomones benefit the emitting organism; kairomones benefit the receiving organism; synomones benefit both organisms and encourage mutualism; apneumones benefit one receiving organism but harm another species interacting with the non-living material emitting the chemical. Examples are given for each category.
