Dermoscopy allows for evaluation of disease activity in alopecia areata by detecting dystrophic hairs and yellow dots within follicular ostia. The authors report on 70 patients diagnosed with alopecia areata incognita (AAI) based on the presence of numerous, diffuse, round or polycyclic yellow dots seen on dermoscopy.
