What is Editorial about?

Welcome to Volume 32 and the first issue of 2023! The Editorial Team is very pleased with the wide range of articles in this issue. The research articles evaluate case studies from four continents and offer critical reflections on autoethnography, creativity, and ethnographic comparison. The review articles describe an equally diverse range of topics, from countryspecific studies to the history of a song. Many of these works encourage readers to question and reconsider their assumptions about basic premises of sound creation, perception, and categorisation. These works further represent the rich work being undertaken by ethnomusicology and related fields in music studies. We hope that you, dear reader, will find these works as engaging and occasionally unsettling as we found them in the review process!
