About this document

Boss Design Guidelines for Injection Molding by Aasel is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Bosses are used to facilitate the registration of mating parts and for attaching fasteners like screws or threaded inserts. Wall thicknesses for bosses should be less than 60% of the nominal wall to minimize sinking. Ribs increase bending stiffness without adding thickness and their thickness should be less than the wall thickness. Living hinges are thin sections that connect parts and allow them to hinge open and closed.
